We have 2 Tractors now. That’s enough to fix after the brother in law tears them up.

Do NOT buy anything made by crimson trace. first one i got of these come with an Springfield Armory promotion on a 308 which was a really dumb package. It was broken from the factory. the package had a single point sling too. now who gonna use a single point sling on a heavy full size 308 or put a cheap POS dot on it. anyway, enough of that. so i got this junk on sale and thought..Meh!, it’s going on a Taurus so i got it.

low and behold the 5th shot something let loose inside it. so my shooting session was over just that fast. there are other cheap sights that do work. crimson trace is garbage. so i wasted my money. i did send them a message. i don’t even have a box to send it back in. but wouldn’t waste my time anyway.

Taurus has a typical over complicated H&K operating system. It did work for five rounds. lol i put some iron sights on it and they are so close together the front sight was really blurry to me so i didn’t shoot any and took em off. came home and tore it down. really didn’t need it as it only had 5 rounds but wanted to see how it was built. seems built fine just over complicated. Guess i will get a Holosun to put on it.

I thought the mags were really cheap lookin on the pics on the net, but they are actually pretty sturdy mags. this is a very early gun as the serial number is below 50. i don’t care for that brace but really didn’t get to see how it felt with 5 rounds. gun didn’t seem to have a lot of recoil.

Interesting about Crimson Trace. Once-upon-a-time they made THE primo laser. It was in the grip and was activated in one of two ways, depending on which version you got. It could be front=strap activated or grip-activated. They even offered a free battery replacement - for life. And here we see either a complete anomalije or just plain trashy construction.

For a while they were having troubles with Chinese konci-offs that were masquerading as the real thing. Amazon was selling them. Some of the units Amazon sold were real CT producst but a whole lot weren’t. I am surprised that Amazon didn’t suffer significant legal issues over this as they had to know.

Sorry to hear a good Ameriucan company has fallen. We can’t afford to have too many of these kind of “disasters” occur.

Afternoon yall.

Rick I have a set of their Lazer grips on a Kimber 1911 and they work just great.

I had one of their red dots years ago and it was garbage. Guess they should stick to what they are good at.

I have good luck with these cheap red dots.

So i took the crimson trace junk off and trash canned it, put a Holosun back on and then proceeded to the range across the street. got it all sighted in but noticed after the can got hot the bullets went to the left and everywhere. let it cool and back to center.

Anyway i shot 100 rounds and no hiccups. i was using them br549 bullets that @kilroy recommends and mostly shot at a readyman spinner that @kilroy recommends.

I also mighta been a little too far for that very short barrel to be really accurate.

That sounds like a solid setup. A can changing POI as it heats up isn’t unusual, and the fact it came back to center after cooling tells me the optic was probably fine and the warm suppressor/heat shift was the bigger culprit.

100 rounds with no hiccups is the part that matters most, and the short barrel comment makes sense too. If you want, I’d next check it cold vs.

hot at the same distance with the same hold and see how much the can is really walking it.

No doubt, once we get this fraternity built in nation wide range clubs we need those and Chris’s recipe’s in each one!

That’s the right way to do it. A range club works better when the little things are there too, not just the targets and steel.

Chris’s recipes would make it feel like a real clubhouse instead of just a place to burn powder.

We had our Friends of NRA banquet Thursday night . We grossed $25000 for the night . This year was a hard one two of our main members were out because of health issues. So I was left to make all of the arrangements . But we will be in the top ten money earnings for the state . And no I did not win a new gun but I did buy some art work I wanted.

No pics or is this some over 18 artwork ?

Probably the latter, Robert. If he’s calling it “art work” and it’s got him grinning, that usually means something a little more interesting than wall decor.

If he wants to show it off, I’d take the tease as an invitation and tell him to post the piece when he’s ready.
