So I went to the range to say it was a disappointing time would only be half true . With the 22 revolver I was holding 2" at 50 whichbis my book is pretty good . But somehow or the other my big gun was way off and I couldnt figure it out. I think the scope went screwy on me :face_with_spiral_eyes: I was recycling that scope from a 454 I had and I guess after enough rounds ( thousands of heavy hitter) it could bo longer take the recoil.
Now I am gonna be forced to buy a new scope :unamused: I am so tore up about it too :joy:

It all depends on the gun and its intended use. I have both on different guns that have different purposes. I have a red dot on a light weight 223 that is primarily for short range. I have magnified optics on rifles that are used for longer distances. The amount of magnification depends on the distance. I also have plenty of firearms with iron sights.
Vision will play a big part in your decision as well. Older, less resilient eyes eyes will necessitate electronic and magnified optics.
A low power variable optic can give you a little of both options. A 1-6x or 1-8x LPVO is a good option for close quarters out to 800+ yards.
