Thanks for beautiful revolvers posted, the Uberti I have is a pretty little .22lr with brass grip frame and color case. A hoot to shoot.
On another note, perhaps next reloading and shooten project here could be with 45 Colt but with some newer lead bullets really been wantin to try.
Are you buying some lead bullets ? Montana bullet works, Cast performance bullets, Berrys ? Or are you wanting to make your own . I really got into the casting about 2.5 yrs. Ago. I always bought cast bullets from beartooth bullets , but alas he became ill or something and couldnt order any more…I then ordered Cast Performance bullets supposed to be coated in a new clear style coating…yeah right!! Those suckers leaded up my gun. So I bought a lee molde and a pot and ordered me some hardball( consistency of lyman #2) and started making my own. I even performed the most simple type of lube with lee alox. Wow oh wow let me tell you my accuracy jumped 50% at least. It was a transformation point in my 45 caliber boolits. I wont ever buy another round for a revolver. Making my own here on out except for Rifles.

As far as wheelgun cast bullets go I have all of the above plus others except for Montana just yet. Have only dabbled in my own casting but will eventually get more into it when can. Great info! Thanks and to all.
These new ones are some polymer coated 200gr RNFP I picked up a few years ago, think the company has now trimmed down their offerings or went out of business for awhile maybe at one time. Just had not tried coated before nor in my 45 cal. Have had great luck with lubed RNFPs and also wonderful Elmer Keith’s SWC design for a good while. I do like to try new things it just sometimes takes me awhile to get to it.
@Jsquints I love a 300 gr. Bullet. And that 300 gr. WNFP lee molde I bought has 1 lube grove and drops amazingly good bullets.
Those are indeed excellent castings! plus design, surface bearing drivers for accurate hunting as well as wide metplat & high power for big animal defensive carry. Me too, 300gr typically my preferred weight for bigger game hunting and backcountry carry. Will remember your molde.
The only bullets I still have or have ever had in quality that even comes close to those are from a neat fella I miss, Pennys casting who i once bought from exclusively, from a very long time ago in 90s. Very nice work there, thanks for posting! WNFPs work best in couple of revolvers we have been using here. Have also had great luck with 1 wide lube groove like that in 4570, 405gr.
So you two are touching (actually waist deep into) on a subject very near and dear to my heart!!! So i of course make custom guns. They need to be accurate of course and what makes an accurate revolver? Then the bullets must be accurate, correctly designed, correctly cast with the right mix for the correct BNH for the velocities being shot. Obviously the weight has to match the rifling type and twist.
I want a thread about bullet design! What makes a great bullet, (i have hundreds of bullets from tests) Elmer Keith designs are some of the best designs still) why do they work? What gives them killing power? I have a list of things i would like to see in the thread so others can have the opportunity to learn if they so choose.
The other threads i really want to see are about what it takes to make a rock solid accurate revolver!
