Nat’l Constitutional Carry Bill Introduced

Rep Thomas Massie introduced a bill allowing for national carry and preempting state and local laws to the contrary:

The article does admit, though, that there’s little chance it’ll pass. I remember a similar bill was introduced years ago during the Trump Administration when the Republicans briefly held a majority of both houses of Congress, but it languished and died. Same for a bill introduced removing suppressors from the tax stamp requirement.

There are many bills introduced that do not intend to pass. The point of introducing them is to put up a draft so that it can be worked on, and support can be measured. Alternatively, they can be used as a poison pill to kill the other side’s bills, or if the other side wants something hard enough, it can be attached to a bill as part of a voting bargain.
