Brave, Firefox, LibreWolf...

We have options... The only winning move is not to play.

Not play google or MS is an easy choice in theory, less in practice, hope open source can grow

Funny cause I quit microsoft as soon as the chrome worked…. then quit them as soon as I became aware of better, Brave seems to work good but heard a couple times they are an alphabet product now anyway…… the noose gets ever tighter.

Chrome robbed Opera code, Opera sold to the Chinese and used the money to start

actual OS alternatives are the issue

At this point, I feel like anything besides a chrome-based browser is an act of rebellion. Even Apple’s WebKit.

I don’t know what webkit is but don’t think you understand apple is spelled
d e e p s t a t e same as google, two faces, same coin.

Yup, they are deepstate. But what isn’t nowadays? The only practical choices are:

  • Chrome-based (Google)
  • WebKit-based (Apple)
  • Firefox-based (Mozilla)

I’ve tried using w3m, lynx, and NetSurf. They just don’t implement enough features to access, e.g. my bank. Even the security-focused GrapheneOS modified the Chrome base to create Vanadium. The dev complained that Firefox architecture is more difficult to harden. People hate WebKit because its plugins and APIs are so different from everybody else, even though it is the most memory and CPU-efficient.

While I still use FF as a backup it’s not what it once was, including being trusted, why?

Google is both its biggest competitor and its greatest benefactor. Since 2005

Best IMO,

long history

actually longer

But these are browsers, not operating systems, thats where we really need a better solution.
