Thanky! My grips are holly wood (I just don’t like the way that falls on the ears), but she deserves ivory. Best trigger on any pistol I have owned . . . excepting maybe stoned Contender triggers. But they ain’t wheel guns.

I have been doing the same thing . I can shoot free hand quite accurately now . I used to use shooting sticks or a backpack or downed log . I only do so when it is at least 100 yards…I think what it is . Is just a level of confidence and training all coming together.

So this is the custom flattop from 1956 4 digit serial number i converted to 41 Special. The only things original to the revolver is the frame, loading gate, and cylinder.

Thats a great looking piece , why 3 barrels ?

They are cut from a blank. I made a 14” 1892 trapper barrel and 3 ruger barrels for custom revolvers.
Just cutting them while i have it set up in the lathe.

Stumpkill - I too really like your k-38, including the grips…which appear to have a nice target shape?
Thanks,

Ain’t got a model 14 but I love my model 15 with target hammer, trigger and grips and my model 19 with a 2&1/2 barrel they both have taken the PPC course way better than some bottom feeders. Lol but I still regretting the sale of my charter arms classic bulldog with the 3” barrel was best packing gun for hiking and camping in deep woods.

They are thinner at the base than S&W Target grips. I forget the man’s name (mine are from Texas Grips) who first produced them. Kind of a hybrid between the target and the combat. Maybe 3:1 depth to width with a swell at the palm. Clear H&K Speed Loaders nicely.

Sorry been in the mountains all day. So to answer your questions. the brass grip frame is from RW Grip Frames in Texas. That is the potato judge. So made for someone with big hands. Helps control recoil like you would not believe. The weight of the brass helps put put the center of gravity just behind the hammer taking into account the 5-1/2” bull barrel 3/4” diameter.
The top one needs a colt bushing installed in the cylinder then an oversized base pin. Finish the barrels.
The lower revolver was converted to 41 special but a guy saw mine and wanted a duplicate. That is an entry level 41 Special. It is a old model ruger blackhawk that i rechamber the cylinder then use a 41 mag barrel. Nothing else is really done to it. That is the entry model. Then there is the full custom model the only parts original are the frame, loading gate, and cylinder.
If you have more questions i am happy to answer.

You asked earlier why 3 barrels. Yes i made 3 revolver barrels well here is my 1892 winchester 14” trapper barrel in 41 Special. In the next couple weeks i will begin that carbine to trapper conversion from 44 WCF TO 41 SPECIAL. Yes when i make barrels i have all the roll stamps, caliber stamps and winchester proof stamps.

Potato Judge.. lol I ate a ton of those things when I was younger..Cant hardly ear em at all now . Much perfer a sweet potato..ok I digress.
Taming recoil is key to second shot aquisition . I know that early on I tried a few shorter barreled revolvers and struggled in that area. Going to longer barrels helpedkeep the front down for me. I actually thought about getting my BFR Magna ported. Its already loud . I wear hearing protection with it while hunting. So that little more wint hurt anything there.

I pulled a really dumb stunt last summer was over at my range I have set upnon the farm and I was practicing at 50 yards. I ran 3 shots I think was using ear muffs. So i wanted to measure my shot group got up from the bench and walked over to the target and pulled my ear muffs up and walked back and sat right back down and pulled the hammer back and wham . Oh my gosh there went the hearing. Well it started ringing and wouldn’t quit. So after getting to the house I got on the internet looking for home remedies. One of the ones I seen said running increased blood flow up and into that area of the neck. So I went and got on the treadmill and ran 1 mile. Believe it or not it went away in a little while.

cool tip, hope I don’t need to use it

Shooting IDPA/USPSA there were a couple times I missed the eyes/ears command and what a quick realization of the error, amazing how well muffs do work (when you wear them)

  Brisk walking would have probably been sufficient but as always I am an over achiever  I dont want to hear about you falling and getting swept off the treadmill and getting a concussion
