Thats a BS feel good story when the ATF said in a statement that it determined that the tool “does not meet our needs.”
So then you should view this more as notice than compliance, now you know, but what was done about it?
Did any law forbid the practice?
Did the data source disappear?
Did all agencies lose access?
Were alternate vendors or in house tools barred?
Was past data destroyed?
Is there an audit proving compliance?
And, is FISA alone enough anyhow?

Section 702 includes “upstream” collection from U.S. telecommunications backbone locations likely to carry traffic associated with tasked selectors. The PCLOB report says that collection occurs inside the United States; it also acknowledges classified material and a “highly sensitive technique” that the public cannot inspect.
The government’s strongest public defense is that it targets foreign selectors, not Americans directly.
