@Robert , you are clearly a devout Roman Catholic. That is great. But you constantly write as if you are attempting to denigrate our churches, to convert us to Catholicism. We resist. We respectfully find your arguments too narrow, to restricted, to out-of-context biblical quotes. That is our prerogative.
I, for one, am tired of debating the legitimacy of my faith. It is as legitimate as any other Christian faith, perhaps a bit more as I have come to it via a multitude of other church exposures. But that is my problem. I would not attempt to dissuade you from your faith, whether I personally agree wiht it or not. You are a Christian, and that is the first and most important characteristic. All else is table dressing.

Rather profound question there, if we look to Mr. Webster, an orthodox Calvinist Congregationalist defines key as
8. In the Romish church, ecclesiastical jurisdiction, or the power of the pope, or the power of excommunicating or absolving.
A lot for a non catholic, and the 1611 , not your catholic bible, aside from the obvious where Christ said He did hand over the keys he said what could be done with them
and He also said:
so this is where the power of the keys can be seen, in the confessional with reconciliation to loose your sins.
