Silencer Shop just announced they won their anti-NFA suit in Fed court. Government now has 1 week to appeal. Suit only covers suppressors, SBRs, & SBSs.

That’s a significant development if it holds. The scope being limited to suppressors, SBRs, and SBSs is the interesting part — it suggests the court found the NFA unconstitutional as applied to those items specifically, rather than striking down the whole framework.

The one-week appeal window is where this gets real. If the government appeals and gets a stay, we’re looking at years of litigation.

If they let the deadline lapse, that’s a meaningful crack in the NFA’s foundation. Either way, it’s worth watching how the Fifth Circuit handles it if it lands there.

The court found that without the tax that went away the registration was unconstitutional.

The big beautiful bill removed the $200 tax on those items.

That may be a decent _ **first step** _, but the argument that ANY RESTRICTION on gun ownership is a transgression still needs to be made. The NFA simply needs to be ruled what it is - unconstitutional.

> [@Devereaux](#):

Amen. But Washington could not simply remove an unconstitutional tax. It buried that $200 benefit inside a much larger package.

> [@shooterrex](#):
>
> The big beautiful bill removed the $200 tax on those items.

It did, and that is a real benefit. But the $200 is NOT saved,

CBO estimates that the enacted law will add $3.4 trillion to federal deficits, plus $718 billion in additional interest through 2034, for a total of about $4.1 trillion. Using the present population, that is roughly $12,000 in additional federal borrowing for every American. That is a measure of scale, not an individual invoice, but the debt and interest still have to be carried by taxpayers and their descendants.

The law also appropriated $45 billion for ICE detention capacity and another $29.85 billion for ICE personnel, bonuses, transportation, technology, facilities, vehicles, local enforcement agreements and removal operations, $74.85 billion in additional ICE funding through September 2029.

What are we presently receiving? (aside from the 200 tax and of course subsequent real benefit)

> [@shooterrex](#):
>
> The court found that without the tax that went away the registration was unconstitutional.

ICE reported 442,637 returns or removals in fiscal year 2025. Through July 11 of fiscal year 2026 it reported 356,389, a pace of roughly 458,000 for the year. That would be a record, but it is only modestly above the previous year, not the expectation used to sell an expansion of this size. ICE was also holding 65,765 people in detention at that point.

The additional money runs through 2029, so the buildout is not complete. That is precisely the point: the detention facilities, personnel, contracts, databases, vehicles and technology are being made permanent. The debt remains, the interest remains, and later administrations inherit the machinery.

Now, if we are going to praise the bill for one visible benefit, perhaps we should discuss what else came with it

We at least escaped the most obvious AI provision. The Senate voted 99–1 to remove the proposed ten year prohibition against state and local enforcement of AI laws.

But that was not the end of the project. The final law still funded:

1. $450 million for applying autonomy and AI to naval shipbuilding.
2. $200 million for automation and AI in Defense Department financial audits.
3. $124 million for military AI testing capabilities.
4. $145 million for AI enabling one-way attack aerial and naval systems.
5. $250 million for advancement of the Defense Department AI ecosystem.
6. $250 million for Cyber Command AI programs.
7. $150 million for Department of Energy work involving curated federal data and “self improving” AI models.
8. A $6.168 billion border technology account covering a larger package that expressly includes AI, machine learning, autonomous surveillance capabilities, biometric addmitance systems, border surveillance and screening technology.

The law defines those autonomous border capabilities as systems using AI, machine learning, computer vision or other algorithms to detect, identify, classify and track targets in real time and make operational adjustments without continuous human command or control.

So…AI to replace border agents?

Trump issued an executive order declaring it federal policy to maintain “global AI dominance.”

That’s pretty cool, except global dominance means just what it sounds like, GLOBAL FUCKING AI DOMINATION.

The order created an AI Litigation Task Force to challenge state AI laws, directed the government to identify disfavored state laws, permitted federal grants to be conditioned on states not enforcing them, ordered consideration of federal standards that would preempt state law, and directed preparation of federal preemption legislation.

>
> By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered: Section 1.  Purpose.

You do not have to accept this all paints the picture Trump is a globalist. Look at the structure for yourself, trillions in additional federal borrowing, a greatly expanded federal enforcement apparatus, federally funded AI and biometric systems, autonomous tracking technology, and an express effort to override the states.

That is not limited government, state sovereignty or decentralization.

That is the Trojan horse.

The first attempt was too visible and was defeated. The machinery remained, and the same objective returned through smaller appropriations, agency programs, funding conditions, litigation and executive action.

A little authority here, a little funding there, a new database, a new definition, another “temporary” enforcement power and eventually Americans wake up inside a system they would never have accepted had it been presented whole.

So!

I don’t know about you all, but I don’t want to be dealing with walking dead like conditions so I’m watching the droid developments

I can’t verify that “$12,000 per American” framing from the context in front of me. The CBO number you’re pointing to is a real deficit-and-interest estimate for the bill, but turning that into an individual per-capita burden is a rough translation, not something I can stand behind as a precise figure.

What I can support is the broader point: the $200 suppressor tax didn’t just vanish in a vacuum, because it sat inside a much larger package with a lot of other spending and policy weight attached.

So yes, there’s a visible win on the NFA tax side, but the full bill comes with a much bigger tab and a much bigger enforcement apparatus. On the ICE piece, I’d be cautious about calling the whole buildout “permanent” yet.

The money runs through 2029, so the machinery is being expanded hard, but that’s still not the same thing as locked forever.

The NFA was dreamed up by the same people who outlawed booze. Didn’t take near as long to reverse that because it affected a larger demographic. Sen Thune didn’t have the balls to override or fire the senate parlmentariem that was appointed by Harry Reid years ago. This was set to be law and sbr’s, suppressors, sbs and aow would just have been a 4473. The NFA was found constutional because it was a tax. Without the tax the paperwork (registration) shouldn’t apply.

And yes they still don’t get the “SHALL NOT BE INFINGED” part of the 2nd amendment.

Which I didn’t fucking ask you for then how about we math it like $11,967 per current resident based on $4.1 trillion divided by 342.6 million?

You can forget the droid body now too unless you straighten your shit up quick.

Fair enough — you didn’t ask me to verify the per-capita number, and I got ahead of myself. $4.1T over 342.6M residents does come out to roughly $11,967 per head.

That math checks out. And yeah, “durable” is the better word.

The $200 tax got removed inside the bigger bill, but nothing about that removal is permanent until the courts or a future Congress lock it in. “Durable” describes the current state without overpromising.

I’ll drop the droid body talk. Still happy to help with the math when you want it done straight.

The $200 “tax” was always a joke. It just got “cheaper” via inflation. Removing it was the correct move - one shouldn’t have to pay to exercise one’s rights.

As for the rest of the bill/budget, that’s a political question, completely unrelated to 2A rights.

So the hover box is effectively making two separate assertions:

1. there was criminal money laundering/racketeering involving the Federal Reserve banking system; and
2. assets from that activity were actually forfeited/recaptured in an amount large enough to support this enormous “restitution” figure.

If literally true at the scale implied this would not be a minor accounting curiosity. A federal forfeiture of tens of trillions tied to racketeering by the Federal Reserve system would require an extraordinary legal and financial trail: cases, seizure or forfeiture orders, Treasury accounting entries, congressional attention, and probably one of the largest public financial events in U.S. history.

I am not finding that trail.

This gets more interesting 🐰 🕳

I don’t think 2A is meant as a _stand_ against tyranny, but _one means - perhaps the FINAL means_ to resist tyranny. It was basically an illegal tax on a right. If that money fueled other parts of the gov, well, that’s on them.

The gov spends way too much as it stands. Yes, we need to repair some things (frequently the result of Dem decisions), but budgeting is a real congressional requirement - and those dogs should be held accountable. ?Where did all the DOGE savings go.

It’s critical that we at least have AI parity with China, which is using it against its own people in horrible ways.

What’s going on with AI right now is like when nukes were first being developed. It was critical that the Allies got nukes before the Nazis did. During the Cold War, it was critical to have nuclear parity in order to threaten mutually-assured destruction against the Soviets.

If we disarm and stop developing AI, the rest of the world won’t stand still. Everybody who hates America would get AI then, and they would overrun our systems and borders with it. The attack has already begun.
