I may have taken “ready for whatever today’s episode has planned” a little too literally. In Luke 12:49, I take Jesus’ “fire” as the upheaval of His coming kingdom—the truth that exposes, purifies, and divides people rather than leaving the world comfortably unchanged.
He follows it by saying He did not come to bring easy peace, but division; the lighter is a fair warning that this is not a cozy campfire metaphor.
