Shot a couple Staccatos and a Kimber 2K11 yesterday, havenât shot one before, the Staccatoâs feel like the slide is running on ball bearings. Top quality ball bearings. Helps that they are 9mm and have whimpy little 9mm springs in them but still buttery smooth, super triggers. One was set for 2lb and one was 3-1/2 - 4. The Kimber was pretty nice as well, large frame little bullets big sights make for a nice shooting experience especially after shooting my 45 Commander with the milspec sights.
My 10mm AR carbine ran flawlessly with light to max loads, 155gr and 180 gr. Even the 155gr XTP over a compressed charge of 15.9gr AAC#9 topping 1800 FPS. No ripped in half cases. Thatâs probably about max for a blowback carbine. Settling on 15.5gr for future loading.
The loads that work well off a bench in 90 degree weather in the 300BO did not have quite enough oomph shooting off hand pistol style/ gangsta style 70 degree weather. Picked up and chambered the Campro 220s but no LRBHO, short stroked the SMK 220s. At first I thought it was temperature / load related and moved on to other shooters but looking at the velocities, they are pretty similar to last week so thinking now it is just such a light configuration when not locked into shoulder and bench there is enough of a difference, more gas or go to a yellow spring.

I used a Tubbs flat wire spring in my 300 BO that was advertised to be 10% âweakerâ, I donât remember the exact terminology he used. Any idea how the yellow spring would rate? Mine has been flawless and I canât get the spring anymore so need a substitute for more builds.

Yellow is 20% reduction. I opened the port up from 0.095 to 0.101 this afternoon. I also have an AGB on it, forgot about that till I took it off to drill the port.

I am pretty sure that he is using a rifle receiver extension with a very heavy buffer.

I did 2-3 things at once so donât know for sure, but first off I double checked my headspace to make sure the BCG wasnât ramming the case mouth into the front of the chamber.
Headspace was good so I took my 10mm finishing reamer I use on the 1911âs and pushed it in until it hit the shoulder, then turned it with minimal pressure on the shoulder. It cut a bit of rifling, I think that was really the issue all along. No lead for a little bullet jump.
I also got an 8-1/2" Carbine extension from Just Right Carbines, didnât even know they existed until recently. 3/4" longer then an AR 10 carbine extension, 1-1/2" longer then AR15 carbine extension That allowed for adding an additional 3+ OZ of buffer. So my recoil mass is right at 34oz including the BCG. (Compared to 24oz for 40S&W) My buffer was already made for PCC length (4-1/8") + 3/4" because I was running a AR10 length extension, so made a 3/4" weight with 2 bumper pads and a tungsten weight. Also made a 1-1/2" weighted plug for another brother that is running a KVP 4-1/8" weighted buffer in the 8-1/2" extension.
Extra weight
4-7/8" 5 weight buffer for 7-3/4" extension
Added a sleeve for a little more weight and orange spring compression
Setup for KVP 10oz 4-1/8" buffer in an 8-1/2" tube, plus spacer sleeve adding another 1-1/2ozs. Will only work with orange spring designed for shorty 308 buffers, or maybe flatwire, will get spring bind otherwise.
