When I was a teenager we would go on special black powder hunts on Fort Leonard Wood And at the time there were all kinds of farm animals running wild on it . They were left when the land was bought by the army for the fort . Part of the hunt was if you saw any you could shoot them .We saw goats pigs and cattle every time we went . We walked up on one big bull and Dad told me not to shoot it . He said we would work all weekend to get it out if we killed it and if we just made it mad we could not out run it .

I’m in Nixa, not too far. My Daughter and son-in-law were there (Ft. Wood) for a while, but have been in South Korea since February.

I was at Ft Wood for 2 months in 1975 for basic training.

I tested their theory, I eat bacon every morning, at least a 1/2 pound. The wife started frying everything in butter, lard, or olive oil. I eat about 75%+ meat and the fattiest cuts I can afford, no seed oils, no corn syrup, no commercial breads, no ā€œengineered dairy productā€. Now the 40 pounds I lost might have contributing factors but the blood pressure and cholesterol level drops were solid, eliminated all related medications. There is something to eating real food… maybe next year I’ll be dragging a deer…with a four wheeler.

Hell, write a book how we can duplicate and you’ll be both a hero and rich!

UNFOTRUNATELY it doesn’t take a book. High protein, low carb diets are the nads for diabetics as there is no chemical reaction that converts protein into fat. You eat it, it’s used by the body either for repair or fuel. Excess is excreted via the kidneys.

The simple truth is that there are some 14 (or 17 - can’t remember the exact #) essential proteins, 4 essential fats, and zero essential carbs! We are, indeed, carnivores. Carbs are just ā€œfrillsā€ - something that tastes ā€œgoodā€ but not ā€œessentialā€. Eat and drink accordingly.

So, no book - just observe nature around you. Bears up in the NW before hibernating feast on the salmon swimming upstream to lay their eggs. The bears will flip the fish out of the water, peal the skin OFF the fish and eat only the flesh. The skin is where all the fat is - they’re looking for PROTEIN, not carbs!

I’m not sure about that, Salmon is high in fat to my knowledge, can’t swear to it, don’t eat much of any fish, I’d peel the skin to, gross

Especially at that stage, bruises, sores, scabs, those fish are beat when they get to the bears.

There are lots of books with that take. My poor digestive track pushed me to the diet I am on, I eat what feels good and don’t eat what don’t. That left me with a mostly meat diet. Could be with a shortage of innards I’m not taking up all the fat? When they did the yearly update these ā€œissuesā€ with bad test numbers were gone, pills are gone and numbers stayed good. I’m not as afraid of carbs as much as I am whatever they are doing that keeps bread from molding in months.

I hear that, I shop the bakery section for bread if I go to walmart, can find loafs for $1.00, buy a half dozen and freeze, once thawed they have a short shelf life but at least like you say I don’t have to wonder whats in them, the fact they will mold quick is natural.

It just seems you can see the fat between the layers if I have that right, greasy too, my wife will order it if we go out as we don’t ever have fish at home
