Sloppy cylinder due to incorrect bolt thickness, bought a new one fits snug in the frame slot, and the cylinder. But too tight elsewhere. All the videos don’t show fitting, just drop in. Where to start?

Yeah one part looked bent the other filed or worn , Seems you have your work cut out for you

I think the black one (New) the bend is to put spring tension on the dog sticking out of the side of the hammer. Done lots of 1911 ICG’s never done one of these. I have an old frame that is weak/ thin where the trigger guard tucks into it, (common problem with brass frames) I may cut out a window in it and use it as a jig. At least so I can see the geometry. Hundred videos on setting up a 1911 ICG, nothing on these.

Al this is more than a text message type instruction. First i remove the cylinder measure every bolt notch and measure the new bolt. Knowing the bolt doesnt go straight in. Fit the bolt to the smallest bolt notch. The bolt should be snug not tight through the bolt opening in the frame. Ok this is getting way too long…and is only going to take hours to type it all. Going to take a picture. The closest thing to that is the colt saa. Go to page 168 to 181 Jerry gives more information than you will ever use.

I did find a video on timing that explained the bevel on the fingers (I was calling legs) and the cam on the hammer (I was calling the dog) on a 1851, now I got the concept.
I have 2 of Jerry’s books on the 1911, embarrassed to admit I didn’t even think he might have one on the SAA.

Fitting the hammer, bolt and pawl on the Uberti New Army came out sweet, locks up nice and tight fast or slow. Trigger breaks like glass. Trigger guard required depth fitting rear of the trigger, but too short at the front. Got another one on the way. Also still to go: re-finish the cylinder, get a little more gloss.

 ![20240610_183553](https://sixguns.com/uploads/default/original/2X/d/db7543eb5517509ea0cbdfbc52f8ee55cc445b97.jpeg)

Next project, Unfired 1851 Navy, built by Pietta in 1998. Unusual engraved in the white and brass combination. Just going to polish it up, try to get a little more definition on the cylinder engraving. Seems like the engraving on all of these just look like a bunch of scratches unless you look closer. Mechanically only thing needed is have a look at the FCG. Trigger has 2 distinct steps, drops the hammer a few thousands with a little pressure, not like falling to half cock or anything, just a few thou, then drops it rest of the way with a little more pressure. 2 stage single action…

(This was the revolver that spent a month touring the US)

I bought some brass off gunbroker out of florida. The guy shipped it priority. The guy uploaded the tracking to gunbroker. I watched it come out of florida all the way to salt lake, get turned around sent back to florida, turned around shipped all the way to boise back to florida then bounce around florida. This went on for almost 6 weeks. Finally came down to my post master called the post master where it was sent from (and kept getting shipped back to). Had him box it up in a priority box ship it to my post master. As soon as it arrived they called the gunshop and i went and got it. They said this is happening more often than ever before. Crazy!!!
Glad you got your 1851!

I just got my notice from my credit card company my charge back was approved for a product I never got due to USPS, but equally as bad was the company I ordered from, they added insurance so they were covered and didn’t give two 💩 that I didn’t get my product, what a waste of time and energy

Yes, got a notice it had been signed for and delivered while I was at the shoot. Had someone swing by it was sitting on the front porch. Mailman must not have noticed the signature required. To be fair, it had a zip code that looked like 98103, not 98108. Probably why it kept getting sent back.

Another trigger guard, not another revolver, to be clear.
A lot less money involved, no FFL, satisfies the tinkering urge and prevents me from doing my chores, just like my other hobbies.

I resemble that remark
I would much rather shoot then take out the trash or fix the roof or mow the grass any day of the week . Got to agree with you on that for sure. . 😂

Dang, new trigger guard for the New Army showed up with dinged up corners. And it was a perfect fit other then that.

The 1851 in its original glory

Still have a half a dozen out-ins to get the trigger crisp, stoned some back angle on the sear and polished, now a little bit at a time over and over. Have another trigger in the mail just in case I overshoot…

Made the best of the trigger guard on the New Army
