Every Sig I ever used which was 2 different ones would jam, either feed problems due to weak magazine springs ( I feel) however ,I personally will never buy another Sig anything after my experience with them. As far as accuracy they were money just didnt feed well.
I OTOH, have a BUNCH of Sigs. But most of them are hammer-fired DA/SA guns. I am told that the Sig refurbishing program trashes guns. Mostly they try to tune them, leading to lighter hammer springs - which fail at a miserable rate. Use a 20 or 21 lb spring, and it NEVER fails.
Recoil springs are recoil springs. Sooner or later you will have to replace them; shoot more high pressure stuff and it’s sooner. Old 1911’s trashed a recoil spring in about 3K rounds of ball.
But my Sigs, and I have a “number” of them, have all been totally reliable.
I’d expand the definition of zombie to include the democratic protestors and others who follow blindly without thought or reason. As well as those unprepared for survival if society breaks down. Civilization is a very thin veneer.
I love my PM400 and all metal frame P series pistols I have, all of them run all the time. Now I have a 938 that took three trips back but now runs like the others. A P716 on the other hand has been a jam-O-matic even after two trips to get “fixed”, DI builds with the same barrel and bolt run flawless without even a gas port change, gotta be a bug in the piston system.
Getting thinner by the day too
416? 516?
Mine are 16" barrel From memory they were originally produced for the M400. One is an Anderson build and one is an Aero. Maybe that’s the difference. Maybe I’m just lucky!
You may be right - 516. I don’t recollect numbers of exactly sometimes but my sense was that it was a 416. In any event it was an early version of their 5.56 rifles. If you shoot NATO ammo it’s a winner.
Either way, it operates like the HK, short stroke piston instead of DI. Big difference, I can understand why they would have growing pains. I’ve used 2 of their original large frame 716? barrels as well, but as DI not SSP. (Their new 716 went back to DI) Gas port and shoulder in funny locations!
I know the Keltec 5.56 rifles/pistols run great on 5.56 but are problematic with 223. Several customers had the same complaint about the guns.
That friend I mentioned, who got me the upper, has since sworn off all piston guns and only has DI now. So I agree it is probably the piston system.
Want a piston gun get an AK! (Or a FNFAL, or an L1A1, or a 91…)
Maybe I should sell DI conversion kits!
I have an early CMMG piston 16in 5.56.
It runs great.
My new full size friend, Canik SFx Rival and his four extra 18 round friends, plus a holosun green dot. Had to get another before the 16th when they screw us.
They still selling for low prices or have those caught up to the market for good pistols?
That was 629.99 at sportsman’s, the holosun 259.00. Mags were 41.99 and 47.99 ( thicker wraparound at baseplate for 2 of them ). Msrp for the rival on Canik site was 659.00 so I saved 30.00.
Every review on You Tube was favorable in most respects, speed and accuracy uppermost in my requirements. Guy’s hitting iron at 75 and 100 yards with red dots good enough for me. I won’t be trying to hide this one, you’ll know what coming for you if I have to use it. It’s a competition designed pistol, would like to have found a darkside.
Got one of the first Kel Tec’s, never had a problem running .223 or 5.56. Now although its a 1 in 9" twist it doesn’t really like 55 gr. it does like 62 gr.
You’ll like that, they are very accurate and nice triggers.
